Developing Further
GOAL:
Student Assessment (CSTP 5)
Throughout this year, when it came to assessments, I really focused on rubrics and self-critiques. I learned so much about how the students view their own work and was impressed with their honesty about their progress. The rubrics provided a nice structure and gave us all a common goal and language to refer to. For the next year, I would like to collaborate with my colleagues when reviewing assessment data. I would like to use this collaboration to identify and address underlying causes for achievement patterns.
ACTIONS TO MEET GOALS:
-
During PLC, ask the team if we can use some of the meeting time to discuss and review assessment data
-
Informal checks with other VAPA members to see what patterns they are noticing
-
Share grading practices to ensure consistency

Advice
FIND YOUR NETWORK
Build a community of teachers, support staff, etc who can help you whenever you need advice. Your community can expand beyond your department!
TAKE NOTES
Throughout the year, keep a living document of notes about how lessons are going. Not everything goes well the first time and in the moment it is easy to list all the reasons why it failed or what you are noticing. You might even have an idea on how to improve it right away. When you review those same notes a year later, you will feel so prepared!
Staying Connected
